Cancer of unknown primary (oropharangeal???)

Hi.

My husband has been diagnosed with cancer after having a biopsy of the secondary cancer in his lymph nodes.

They found squamous cells so although the scans have not shown the primary cancer site, the surgeon suspects it’s somewhere in the base of the tongue or under the tissue left over from where his tonsils were removed 15 years ago.

He has his pre-op tomorrow ready for removal of these areas.

we don’t know how this will affect his swallowing, breathing and voice in the long term.

does anyone have any experience of this operation please?

  • Good morning!  Can I suggest you post this in the H&N group  Head and neck cancer forum  as there you'll be able to engage with the people with the relevant background.  I guarantee you'll get a huge response from the wealth of experiences there.

Edit: I've just noticed your post in the H&N group, so disregard!  Good luck.  There's also a CUP group too.
