Hi, this is my first time of writing in such a group, the Macmillan support officer at the hospital suggested I try - a bit daunting but I need to hear other people's experiences and share so as to be able to understand more and panic less. Diagnosed with endometrial cancer grade 1 stage 1a in March 2023, I had a total hysterectomy and now 5 months on after a follow up consultation I was informed that I have granulation of the vaginal vault. Some tissue was removed for testing and I have also had an MRI to check everything is structurally sound. I thought once I had the operation I would be free of anxiety and I am grateful for al that has and is being done but now to wait for 3 weeks for results feels unbearable, as this means little sleep and and I am worried that my ongoing exhaustion 5 months post op will only increase. Is there anyone out there that can relate. I feel absolutely alone with this.

  • Hi  and a warm welcome to the Macmillan Community but I am so sorry to hear about your diagnoses and ongoing challenges.

The cancer journey can be such a stressful and challenging time but getting support from others who are dealing with the ‘exact same' cancer type can help a lot.

The Community is actually divided into dedicated Cancer Support Groups (Discussion Rooms) so can I recommend you consider joining and posting in our dedicated Womb (uterus) cancer support group. This group is a safe place to talk to others with a similar diagnosis, treatment experience, to ask questions and get support.

To connect with the group click on this link Womb (uterus) cancerthen once the group page opens click on “Click to Join” when the black banner appears or “Join” under “Group Tools” (this all depends on the device you are using)

When you are ready you can introduce yourself by clicking “+new” or “+” in the top right next to the group title.

You can copy and paste the text from this post into your new post.

The Macmillan Support Line is open 8am-8pm (timings may differ across services) 7 days a week on 0808 808 00 00. This service provides cancer information, practical information, emotional support or just a listening ear.

Do get back to me if you need further help navigating the community.

  • Hi

    sorry to jump on here

could really do with some support from anyone

firstly I’m so sorry you are having troubles .

i have had an urgent 2ww referral that was sent on 11/8. My appointment was for today but they cancelled it due to strikes

i have a big lump in my neck

its painful now, had a bout 3-4 months I’d say. The pin last week or so

The pain is spreading up my neck, into my ear and right side of head

i can’t get booked back on

  • Sorry to hear this  the timing of the strikes have been very unfortunate for you.

As for your pain I was in exactly the same position back in late 2013….. although I had been living with my rare type of Lymphoma for over 14 years by then.

I assume that you revived a call or text to say about your appointment….. we’re you given any information as to what would happen?……. if you have no information I would suggest that you contact your GP to chase up a new appointment……. if your pain gets worse call 111 and get advice.

  • Thank you for the reply

    sorry to hear this

They have no New appointments available. My gp can’t speed it up. Just told if they need to see you they will get you in.

i was under the assistance the 2ww they had to see you in this time

its breeched that if not seen by tomorow

  • Hi again….. as much as I agree with you the reality in the NHS is much different unfortunately. I regularly talk with folks with my type of blood cancer (Lymphoma) who regularly have to wait much longer than the 2 weeks.

The information below is taken from the Macmillan Website - Waiting Times

If your GP sends you for an urgent referral for suspected cancer, you should be seen by a specialist within a maximum of 2 weeks of the referral date.

If you are referred to a specialist, you should not have to wait longer than 62 days from the referral before starting treatment. If you are diagnosed with cancer, you should not have to wait more than 31 days from the diagnosis and a decision to start treatment before you have treatment.
