Hello, I am feeling scared for my brother, my mum and dad. My dad had his bladder removed last April2022 after it was discovered he had small cell carcinoma. The cancer spread to his liver early this year. He had cava chemo which shrunk it slightly. Last Monday dad waS hospitalised and it was discovered the cancer has spread to his brain. He has deteriorated so quickly within 7 days. He cannot walk unaided. He is confused. When he speaks he makes no sense. We were wanted to know if anyone has any experience of brain cancer and the timescale he has with us. As in the last 7 days he has rapidly gone down hill. Thankyou.
Hi Maz52 and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I'm sorry to read that your dad has been diagnosed with bladder cancer and he's recently found that it has spread to his liver and brain.
As the online community is divided up into different support groups, I'm going to recommend that you join the bladder cancer group and also the secondary liver cancer and secondary brain cancer groups as you'll then connect directly with others who have a similar diagnosis to your dad.
Another group which I think you might find helpful is the family and friends group which is a safe and supportive place to discuss your worries and emotions with others who have a loved one living with cancer.
To join any or all of these groups, just click on the links I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
It would be great if you could pop something about your dad's diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
