Hi all. I’m a 45 female and recently diagnosed with medullary cancer. I have been being told for 6 months that I was fine, and it was all in my head. The lump 2.6cm on my left thyroid was graded as sinister but ENT would not believe it was sinister. Anyway long story short, it wasn’t a nodule and it was cancer. I’m having a big operation on Tuesday (the usual for this). What is concerning me is that my cancer bloods have not been taken and they won’t take them until six weeks until after my surgery. How will they know what my baseline was this way? Anyone else experienced this? Thanks
Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I'm sorry to read that after being told you had nothing to worry about you've recently been diagnosed with cancer. It must have been a very upsetting experience.
As the online community is divided up into different support groups, I'm going to recommend that you join the thyroid cancer group which is a great place to ask questions, share experiences and get support.
To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
It would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
