Hi MueB and welcome to the Macmillan Community but I am so sorry to hear that you have crossed paths with cancer a few times.... a right unwanted selection box.
I am very high up the 'at risk' list for skin cancer due to my various treatment but so far so good..... but getting some moral support from others who have navigated the same journeys will help.
The Community is actually divided into dedicated support groups (discussion rooms) and as you have had a few 'bumps' in the road you may care to have a look through THIS LIST where you will find all our many dedicated cancer support groups listed.
These groups are safe places to talk to others with a similar diagnosis, treatment experience, to ask questions and get support.
When you are ready to connect in with a group click on THIS LIST then once you find a group(s) you want to connect in with click on the black banner that says [click to join] at the bottom, or the [Join] button under "Group tools." once the group page opens.
You can then put up your own post when you’re ready by clicking “+new” or “+” in the top right next to the group title. You can copy and paste the text from this post into your new post. You can also scroll through other members posts and click “Reply” to get involved.
It’s a challenging time for you so you may want to use the Macmillan Support Line is open 8am-8pm (timings may differ across services) 7 days a week on 0808 808 00 00. This service provides cancer information, practical information, emotional support, benefits/financial guidance or just a listening ear.
We also have our Ask an Expert section but do allow a few working days for a reply.
Talking to people face to face can be very helpful so do check to see if you have any Local Macmillan Support in your area, do also check for a local Maggie's Centre as these folks are amazing.
Do get back to me if you need further help navigating the community.
Hi MueB and a second welcome to the online community, which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
It sounds like you've been through a great deal over the last few years and I can see that my friend, Thehighlander, has suggested that you join one of the cancer specific groups.
As you're talking about using Efudix cream, I hope you don't mind me suggesting that you join us over in the skin cancer group where you'll connect with others who have used this cream or who are currently using it.
If you think this is the appropriate group for you, just click on the link I've created which will take you directly there. Once you've joined you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
It would be great if you could pop something about your diagnoses and treatments so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
Really appreciate your welcome and advice and I will update my profile and will definitely join the skin cancer group Thank you
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
