Hello all!
So I had a call today from the admin in the colposcopy dept of my hospital to ask if I could go in for 3pm, (in 3 hours from the time of the call), as they wanted to discuss my results.
Having already been on the receiving end of one of the calls when I was diagnosed with MS 8 years ago I knew straight away that this wasn't going to be good news. (And I said so).
So arriving at the hospital I was promptly seen and told that from my biopsies taken 3 weeks ago they showed "moderate" cell changes, but also behind that some cancerous cells.
Obviously tears started streaming straight away as I'd managed to convince myself it was just too much of a cosmic joke to give me MS and cancer, but alas I was proved wrong.
So now is the wait for the MRI to find out what exactly is going on in there, but the word hysterectomy is being thrown around a lot. Luckily I am done with having children having had my last 7 months ago.
So this has understandably ruined my maternity leave and now have a possible 10 working day wait for the MRI, to then have a further wait!
I am not a patient person and we all know the wait is the worst!
Feeling all the feelings right now but still don't really know what to think so just telling myself to just go with it until I get the call for my scan
Hi and welcome to the Macmillan Community but I am so sorry to hear about your story.
The cancer journey can be such a stressful and challenging time but getting support from others who are dealing with the ‘exact same' cancer type can help a lot.
The Community is actually divided into dedicated Cancer Support Groups (Discussion Rooms) and I do see that you have already joined our dedicated Cervical cancer support group. This group is a safe place to talk to others with a similar diagnosis, treatment experience, to ask questions and get support.
To connect with a group click on this link Cervical cancer then once the group page opens you are ready you can introduce yourself by clicking “+new” or “+” in the top right next to the group title.
You can copy and paste the text from this post into your new post…… you can also scroll through other members posts and click “Reply” to get involved.
It’s a challenging time for you so you may want to use the Macmillan Support Line is open 8am-8pm (timings may differ across services) 7 days a week on 0808 808 00 00 or via Webchat and Email too. This service provides cancer information, practical information, emotional support, benefits/financial guidance or just a listening ear.
We also have our Ask an Expert section but do allow a few working days for a reply.
Talking to people face to face can be very helpful so do check to see if you have any Local Macmillan Support in your area, do also check for a local Maggie's Centre as these folks are amazing.
Do get back to me if you need further help navigating the community.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
