Hey I recently found a lump on my neck back in November it was 5.5 mm in size hard and movable its near the bottom of the right side just above the base. I went to the Dr who measured it and told me to come back in 2 weeks it went down to 3.3 mm she said she was pretty sure it was a benign nodule . Told me to keep an eye if it got bigger. I haven't checked since until last week bout 7 months later it's either still there or back it's around 5 mm again I got bloods done today but I'm so scared it's something sinister . I have health anxiety so always think the worst I have 2 young boys and terrified of leaving them. I'm just looking for some reassurance I suppose if anyone has had similar. Thank you
Hi Duchess 33 and a very warm welcome to the online community
It's natural to jump to the worse-case scenario when you find a lump but it's good that your GP originally said that they were "pretty sure it was a benign nodule". Hopefully, your blood tests will come back to confirm this but, if the lump doesn't go away or gets bigger then do see your GP again.
While you're waiting for your results you might find this article about how to ease worry when waiting for medical test results helpful to have a look through.
The online community is divided up into different support groups, so you could join the head and neck cancer group to see if anyone else has had something similar to you.
To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here, and join in with existing conversations by clicking on reply.
I do hope that the results still show that your lump is benign
((hugs))
Hi Duchess 33 and welcome to the Online Community but I am sorry to hear about your ongoing issues.
It’s good that you are being monitored by your GP. There are many reasons for neck lumps to come and go…….. the time to get concerned is when lumps keep growing.
I have lived and been treated for my cancer for over 24 years and have had lumps in my neck due to my type of cancer. These all went over 7 years ago following my last treatment but I had a new 5mm lump appear about 6 years ago, it was checked out and found to be a reactive lymph-node and nothing to be concerned about but I do find myself checking it a lot so this makes it inflamed.
Keep working with your GP to ensure that this is well checked and this will reduce your anxiety.
