Hi my dad has recently been diagnosed with high grade 2 muscle invasive bladder cancer which has spread to lymph nodes in his pelvis. He start the 1st of 3 rounds of chemotherapy next week. Although the oncologist is hopeful of a positive outcome and very much looking at treatment from a curative point of view I can't help but fear the worst. I have been trying to remain positive especially around dad but really struggling in private
Hi ScaredSon88 and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I'm sorry to read that your dad has recently been diagnosed with bladder cancer and I know what a worrying time this will be for you.
As the online community is divided up into different support groups, can I recommend that you join either the carers only group, if you are your dad's carer, or the family and friends group if you're not his carer. Both of these groups are safe and supportive places to discuss your worries and emotions with others who have a loved one living with cancer.
To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here, and join in with existing conversations by clicking on reply.
It would be great if you could pop something about your dad's diagnosis and treatment to date into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
