My husband was diagnosed with advanced Bowel cancer in February. He's not at end of life. He's 43 so young and his body is putting up a big fight in these last days  weeks. He's defied all odds and keeps fighting, just when I think he can't get any worse and death is on the horizon fate finds another way to make his symptoms worse and keep him here. Breaking my heart every day seeing him get worse but clinging on.

He has no quality of life and I'm ready for him to start the next chapter but I'm never going to be ready to start the next chapter without him.

Really starting to run on empty with it all.

  • Hi  and welcome to this corner of community but I am so sorry to hear about your husbands diagnosis and prognosis. A diagnosis like this in the family can be such a challenging and stressful time but getting support from others who are dealing with the ‘exact same' support challenges can help a lot.

As you know the Community is divided into Support Groups (Discussion Rooms) and I do see that you have been connecting with our Carers only group, you may also want to have a look at our Supporting someone with incurable cancer support group also where you will connect with others navigating the exact same challenges.

Talking can help, the Macmillan Support Line is open 8am-8pm (timings may differ across services) 7 days a week on 0808 808 00 00 practical information, emotional support, financial guidance or just a listening ear.

Talking to people face to face can be very helpful so do check to see if you have any Local Macmillan Support in your area, do also check for a local Maggie's Centre as these folks are amazing and can be a great support platform.

I have an incurable cancer so don’t have personal experience to bring to the table but keep connecting with the group members as they are the best with the first hand experience ((hugs))
