Good Evening .
Newbie here . I know there are many people who have a diagnosis and I am sorry if taking up time when others need help .
I have had to wait 19 months for a polyp to be removed from my cervix and have the normal lady test done . No amount of chasing bought the appointment forward .
Two weeks ago polyp removed and lady test done . Told all ok off you go and will get results of lady test within a week or so . That came back clear of hpv. It wasn’t even at the hospital I was referred to and I went to a local drs surgery
This was on a Saturday . First thing Monday morning I am called by my local hospital appointment line . Hi we need to book you in for an urgent mri as per Doctor who treated you Saturday . I ask as to why needed as I know these are not done just for thre fun of it . Could not tell me why . I then waited two weeks for mri which I knew would be normal and grateful that I was not waiting another 19 months . In the meantime trying to get any information as to why I’ve been referred I get a wall put up in front of me . I spoke to my GP surgery to see if they had been updated . No they hadn’t they didn’t even know I’d had the removal yet . Got told to ring Gynacolgy at hospital and find out as I should have been given some idea . Like many hospitals you can never get an answer on the phone .
fast forward to yesterday . The MRi team were fantastic but could not tell me why referred .
rang Gynacolgy no answer . Got through today to say I am not under their care and under some clinic with a H name. The Secretary was lovely and rang the Dr Secretary to see whether I could speak to them . I now know their name and number to call on Friday if not had a phone call . They just said we haven’t got results and would not say why referred . (I wasn’t asking for results )
so I don’t know if I have cancer but I am worried sick . Surely you should be told what you are being referred for . My anxiety is sky high and I cannot sleep .
I know everyone says don’t worry it maybe just to check there’s nothing else going on . But I can’t help but be terrified of the unknown because no one has sat me down and explained anything
delete if not appropriate to post with out a diagnosis
Hi TrixyBelle1 and welcome to the Online Community but so sorry to hear about your ongoing health challenges.
Navigating medical tests and looking for answers can be very stressful and challenging.
I have been on my incurable blood cancer journey for over 24 years now and over these years I have had many investigations not related to my cancer so based on my experience you have to trust the ‘system’ to get the answers…… it is hard when you are not getting clear information but unfortunately this is the NHS at the moment.
But let’s look for you to get answers soon and this to be nothing to worry about…… but if you do find yourself on a cancer pathway then we have many dedicated Support Groups (Discussion Rooms).
These groups are safe places to talk to others who may have a similar diagnosis, treatment experience, to ask questions and get support from members who are navigating the same journey.
THIS LIST will bring up all our dedicated cancer support groups.
It’s a challenging time for you so you may want to use the Macmillan Support Line is open 8am-8pm (timings may differ across services) 7 days a week on 0808 808 00 00 or via Webchat and Email too. This service provides cancer information, practical information, emotional support or just a listening ear.
Do get back to me if you need further help navigating the community or just want to chat.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
