Haay. My names Vivian and I’m 30 years old.
I have lymphoma Cancer. I was Diagnosed 2 and a half years ago, I Had 6 rounds of Chemotherapy and I’m now on a 2 year Maintenance Treatment called Rituximab. I’m very new to this website/Group Community. I just googled cancer support groups near me and stumbled upon this. My main reason for this is because I’ve never felt so alone/scared and just want to speak/meet people who have experienced similar things wether that’s their own experience or a family member/close friend that’s had the experience. It would be lovely for someone to understand how I’m feeling. I just feel completely lost if I’m honest.

  • Hi Vivian  and warm welcome to the Macmillan Online Community although sorry that you had to find us and especially sorry to hear about your Lymphoma journey.

I am Mike and I help out around our Lymphoma groups. I was diagnosed way back in 1999 at 43 with a rare, incurable but treatable type of Low Grade Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma eventually reaching Stage 4a in late 2013 so although my Lymphoma ‘type’ may be different I do appreciate the challenges of this journey rather well.

There are over 60 types and sub-types of Lymphoma but going by your treatment journey it sounds like you have a type of Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma…… we can’t have a group for every type but these are our main Lymphoma groups below.

    Hodgkin's Lymphoma

    General Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma

    Follicular Lymphoma

    Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma

    Mantel Cell Lymphoma

    T-cell lymphomas

    CLL, SLL, HCL

These groups are safe places to talk to others with a similar diagnosis, treatment experience, to ask questions and get support.

Choose the group for your type of Lymphoma by clicking on one of the “Bold Link” have created above then once the group page opens click on “Click to Join” when the black banner appears or “Join” under “Group Tools” (this all depends on the device you are using)

You can then put up your own post when you’re ready by clicking “+new” or “+” in the top right next to the group title. You can copy and paste the text from this post into your new post.

You can also scroll through other members posts and click “Reply” to get involved.

There is no need for you to be navigating this on your own, I will keep an eye open for you but if you are not sure what type you have pleased do get back to me on this post and I will help you out further.

  • Hi Vivian

I was diagnosed with DLBCL at the end of 2019 and have now been in remission for 3 years.  Rituximab was part of my treatment but it's not given here as a maintenance treatment for aggressive lymphomas like mine, only for the more indolent lymphomas.

Feel free to join all of the groups Mike linked.  Some of them are less busy than others but a lot of us hang out in more than one group.
