Hello lovely community.
I do hope someone may be able to help. I had an endoscopy this weekend and 8 biopsies were taken - I also noticed that my report stated extrinsic compression - I have tried to investigate online what this means, but I can’t really get a clear description.
does anyone have any experience with this report finding and what it meant for them?
many thanks
I really appreciate any knowledge shared
Hi Kt87 and welcome to the community but sorry to see that you're navigating the diagnosis roller coaster.
I have been on my incurable blood cancer journey for over 24 years and have had many reports that I did not understand and even googling the information repeatedly I was still none the wiser.
This is because we can't look at and try and understand one specific phrase without first understanding the whole picture and the only people who can do this is your medical professionals.
I gave up trying to understand my many reports and just made sure I was challenging my various clinical teams to put everything in a language I would understand...... I think that this is what you will have to do.
If you get a confirmed cancer diagnosis you will find that the Community is actually divided into dedicated support groups (discussion rooms) so you will be able to have a look through THIS LIST where you will find all our many dedicated cancer support groups listed. These groups are safe places to talk to others with a similar diagnosis, treatment experience, to ask questions and get support.
It’s a challenging time for you so you may want to use the Macmillan Support Line is open 8am-8pm (timings may differ across services) 7 days a week on 0808 808 00 00 or via Webchat and Email too.

We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
