My husband was told yesterday following various scans and examinations that he has a nasty tumour in his throat near his vocal chords (it is actually twisting his vocal cords) and is due for a full biopsy next week.
I am seriously struggling with the news, it is worse than when I got my own breast cancer news 15 years ago. My decision was easy, full mastectomy and reconstructive surgery but I am so worried because his tumour is in his throat.
I keep finding myself crying when alone (like now) - it is so hard waiting to find out what type of tumour, how big is it, what is the prognosis - so many questions filling my head.
I guess I signed up here just to be able to have somewhere to vent and share how I am feeling - he is my soulmate and best friend and I am so scared for him.
Hi Rizzle and welcome to the Online Community but so sorry to hear about your husbands diagnosis. A cancer diagnosis like this in the family can be such a challenging and stressful time but getting support from others who are dealing with the ‘exact same' cancer type and support challenges can help a lot.
The Community is actually divided into dedicated Support Groups (Discussion Rooms) so can I recommend you consider joining and posting in our supportive Head and neck cancer support group. This is a safe place to talk to others who may have a similar diagnosis, treatment experience, to ask questions and get support from family members who are navigating the same journey.
I do see that you have already joined and been posting in our Carers only support group where you will connect with others navigating the same support challenges.
Could I suggest that you put up your own posts in the groups as this will allow you to connect better so when you’re ready go to the groups (join the group if required) then click “+new” or “+” in the top right next to the group title. You can copy and paste the text from this post into your new post.
