Hi all
My name's Graham and just would like some advice on staging.
When I was first diagnosed I was staged at 2 however fast forward a few months I have now a fairly large growth on my right side groin and also one has started to grow on left.
Am I right in thinking that the grading will be changed in my next review .
I do suffer with fatigue daily however not really suffering night sweats . My appetite is ok but much prefer to eat sugary foods and mostly at night .
Any professional advice in my query would be greatly received.
Kind regards
Graham
Hi Graham gra and warm welcome to the Macmillan Online Community although sorry that you had to find us and especially sorry to hear about your Lymphoma diagnosis.
I am Mike and I help out around our Lymphoma groups…… it is very important to understand that the Community members are not medical professionals but are supporting from a lived experience of their cancers.
I was diagnosed way back in 1999 at 43 with a rare, incurable but treatable type of Low Grade Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma eventually reaching Stage 4a in late 2013 so although my Lymphoma ‘type’ may be different I do appreciate the challenges of this journey rather well.
As an NHL veteran my main advice to you is that you call any changes in your health/condition into your Consultant/hospital team and let them decide if your next appointment should be taken forward so they can review you….. you should have been given contact information to do this.
This link on Staging will explain how staging in Lymphoma is done….. the staging of Lymphoma is rather different and unlike most other cancers like Kidney, Lung, Breast….. where a high stage number like stage 4 is a poor prognosis, in Lymphoma it’s not. I was stage 4a back in 2013 and it made no difference to my outcomes.
There are over 60 types and sub-types of Lymphoma so we can’t have a group for every type but can I recommend you join and post in our General Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma this group is a safe place to talk to others with a similar diagnosis, treatment experience, to ask questions and get support.
To join a group first click on the “Bold Link” I have created above then once the group page opens click on “Click to Join” when the black banner appears or “Join” under “Group Tools” (this all depends on the device you are using)
You can then put up your own post when you’re ready by clicking “+new” or “+” in the top right next to the group title. You can copy and paste the text from this post into your new post.
I will keep an eye open for you but if you are not sure what type you have pleased do get back to me on this post and I will help you out further.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
