Hi
I'm new to the group. I was literally diagnosed on Monday with Ductal Carcinoma. I think I'm in shock tbh I don't know what stage as I need to have a MRI, CT scan and genetics test. It's scary, and such a rollercoaster, not gonna lie I'm 36 married with two little boys and I'm dreading telling my little boys. My hubby is amazing so supportive.
Been sent a nice book called Mummy's lump. Think will utilise this If anyone has any other ideas? I feel a bit lost at this point. I'm tired a lot of time I fell asleep today at lunch time I never do that. Any advice welcome? Honestly I know I have a long road ahead and well a huge fight, Im just praying I can do it.
Thanks LAOR4e4!
Hi LAOR4e4 and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I'm sorry to read that you've just been diagnosed with ductal carcinoma and I recognise that feeling of shock.
The online community is divided up into different support groups, so I'm going to recommend that you join the breast cancer group so you can connect directly with others to ask questions, share experiences and give and receive support
To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here, and join in with existing conversations by clicking on reply.
As for talking to your children, you might find this booklet from Macmillan called talking to children and teenagers when an adult has cancer helpful. You can either view it online or send for it in paper format. Clicking here will also give you some tips on how to broach the subject of cancer with them.
It would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and tests so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
