Hi my name is Jeannette
I have been diagnosed with NHL in the breast, I have been told it is unusual as tit traveled from the breast to the lymph glands. I have never heard of this, and I am scared stiff I have been told it can be cured, which is great. I am having a PET scan on Tuesday I don't know what to expect.
I had my regular mammogram on 22/01/23 given all clear, in March had a visit with Dr felt something wasn't right and felt a lump. The Dr said she believed it was cancer so fast tracked me to the hospital, huge thank you to her.
So here I am waiting for the next test and an appointment with the hematologist Dr on Friday for an update and plan I hope.
He has said I will have Chemotherapy I don't know what to expect how will I feel afterwards.
My eldest daughter is in remission at the moment after cervical cancer. But I thought as it is a different cancer the results will be different.
I have 2 daughters both have been great they go to every appointment with me and keep me smiling they call themselves my entourage.
My husband has a lot of health problems so just try to keep him calm, I think he is a bit stunned like me.
So that is me any advice or suggestions will be greatfully accepted.
Thanks and good wishes to everyone.
Hi Nan2pop and warm welcome to the Macmillan Online Community although sorry that you had to find us and especially sorry to hear about your Lymphoma diagnosis.
I am Mike and I help out around our Lymphoma groups. I was diagnosed way back in 1999 at 43 with a rare, incurable but treatable type of Low Grade Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma eventually reaching Stage 4a in late 2013 so although my Lymphoma ‘type’ may be different I do appreciate the challenges of this journey rather well.
Having NHL in the breast area is indeed on the rare side but over my 24 years I have spoken with many who were in the same position. NHL can turn up anywhere and indeed in multiple places at the same time. These multiple places are not mets they are all one in the same thing - NHL….. so this is completely different from Breast Cancer.
There are over 60 types and sub-types of Lymphoma we can’t have a group for every type but these are our main Lymphoma groups below.
General Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma
These groups are safe places to talk to others with a similar diagnosis, treatment experience, to ask questions and get support.
To join a group first click on the “Bold Links” I have created above then once the group page opens click on “Click to Join” when the black banner appears or “Join” under “Group Tools” (this all depends on the device you are using)
You can then put up your own post when you’re ready by clicking “+new” or “+” in the top right next to the group title. You can copy and paste the text from this post into your new post.
I will keep an eye open for you but if you are not sure what type you have pleased do get back to me on this post and I will help you out further.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
