Hello all,to say I’m shocked, confused and terrified would be an understatement!! So our story in a nutshell, around 12 weeks ago my husband started experiencing a bad headache that simply would not shift and his eye started to look a bit puffy.I suggested going to the optometrist first before the Drs because experience had taught me that is what they would suggest, optometrist did test and scans of eyes, nothing appeared to be amiss so they suggested if headaches continued to see Gp,which he did,so fast forward to today,he has had 2 lots of antibiotics as eye infection was suspected, then a couple of visits to urgent eye clinic,we then went to A and E because headaches were getting unbearable,we pushed for a ct scan which happened 3 weeks this Sunday coming,by the Thursday he had been diagnosed with a large, aggressive tumour,Thursday after (last Thursday) a biopsy was performed, today we have an appointment for MRI scan BUT then we don’t hear anything until the 8th of June!! I know I probably seem really impatient but that seems a long time to me to wait for any biopsy results. We have been told already that it is highly likely to be cancerous but there’s always a glimmer of hope until it’s made official. We were told it’s likely to be a case of significant treatment at Manchester hospital. What Im wondering is are these timings right? Is there anything we can do beforehand? My head is so messed up and my poor husband is in so much pain it’s horrendous.Any advice and support would be greatly received.
Hi Anxious71 and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I'm sorry to read that your husband has recently been diagnosed with a sinonasal tumour and I know what a worrying time this will be for you both.
The online community is divided up into different support groups so I'm going to recommend that you join the head and neck cancer group, where you can connect with others who have the same type of cancer and can answer questions, share experiences and give support.
Another group that I think you'd benefit from joining is the carers only group, which is a safe and supportive place to discuss your worries and emotions with others who have a loved one living with cancer.
To join these groups, just click on the links I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here, and join in with existing conversations by clicking on reply.
It would be great if you could pop something about your husband's diagnosis into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
