Hi everyone, my reason for being here , Husband attending local A&E mid March 2023 , symtoms Jaundice and had what he thought was Indigestion & heartburn for 3+ weeks , free 5days in hospital Gallstones found, Gallblader removed . CT scan lots of blood tests Stent inserted due to bile leak biopsy taken of “Poor Defined Lesion”In his Pancreas.Meeting with Surgeon who removed gallbladder and were told husband has Pancreatic cancer, Meeting with Surgeon who confirmed he would be able to perform Whipple procedure and this was all booked for 22nd of May this would have been sooner but due to bank holidays this was the 1st available date . a further CT scan booked just to make sure nothing had changed before the surgery but surgeon was sure all would be well as last CT was only a few weeks prior . Last week my husband received a phone call from the surgeon to say Surgery could not be done and he would need Chemo first as the cancer was too close to the arteries . We had a meeting with Oncolgist Yesterday and she told us the cancer was 3cm but between scans it had grown by a 1cm in a few weeks . Husband is due to have a Biopsy this Friday to ensure they know the best chemo to give him .
Oncologist says liver is clear and no spread ,
may questions are anyone else had a increase in just a few weeks and we have not been given a Staging of the cancer or prognosis and comments or similar stories welcome
Hi Iwillfightthis and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I'm sorry to read that your husband has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and I know what a difficult time this will be for you both.
The online community is divided up into different support groups, so I'm going to recommend that you join and post in the pancreatic cancer group, which is a great place to ask your questions, share experiences and get support.
To join, just click on the link I've created which will take you straight there. Once you've joined you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and also join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
It would be great if you could pop something about your husband's diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
