Breast Cancer & NeuroEndocrine Cancers - No Link

I'm coming to the end of treatment for Breast Cancer that was found in my first ever screening November 2022. I've had a lot of problems with the after effects of surgery which I'm more than happy to share if it will help anyone in the same position.

Unfortunately I'm now starting treatment for NETs. The original mass was found by accident when the hospital did a CT scan in the wrong area. Several more scans later with the final nuclear TEKTROTYD one showed that the original mass found was actually a secondary in the lymph nodes of my Jejunum (bowel) with the primary being further in to the same organ. I'm due to have a bowel resection mid June & I'm so scared. I've joined the NET group but I'd be hugely grateful if there was anyone who could share any positive stories concerning the bowel resection operation? If I could ask for nothing negative please as I'm already terrified & my mental health is hanging by a thread.

Many thanks in advance xx

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I'm sorry to read that after finishing treatment for breast cancer you've now discovered that you have a NET. Like you, I've had two unrelated cancers with melanoma being my first followed by breast cancer 5 years later.

I can see that you've already joined and posted in the neuroendocrine cancer group, which is a great place to ask questions, share experiences and get support.

You might also like to join the breast cancer group so you can share your experiences and give and support to those still going through treatment. If this is something that you'd like to do, just click on the link I've created which will take you straight there.

It would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
