Hi everyone TonyQ here.

Just wanted to know what to expect now that I have had my course of RT. Hopefully I have escaped without to many side effects, just the ongoing sweats! and problems with pain when urinating. I am on Tamsolusin which help a lot but i am up two or three times a night. Is this likley to be permanent ?. Also I have been told that it will be 6 months before i have any follow up consultations is this normal?

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I'm glad to read that you haven't had too many problems while having radiotherapy.

The online community is divided up into different support groups and your best bet would be to join the relevant support group to ask your question as radiotherapy and it's side effects are different for different types of cancer. As you haven't mentioned what type of cancer you have, you could either let me know so that I can give you a direct link to the relevant group, or look through this list and choose the appropriate one.

It would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
