Chronic Fatigue

Hello, I've joined this forum as looking for support my Dad who has been diagnosed with prostate cancer. He has been on hormone therapy for 7 months and about to start radiotherapy soon.

He is really struggling with chronic fatigue, he also has COPD too. He spends most of his says asleep on the sofa or in bed and has no energy to do anything. I've urged him to try antidepressants to see if they will help with his energy levels and tiredness. The Doctor has prescribed him 20mg of Citalopram... has anyone else tried medications to help with chronic fatigue.  I don't think the 20mg will be enough.

Thanks

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I'm sorry to read that your dad has been diagnosed with prostate cancer and that he's struggling with chronic fatigue.

As the online community is divided up into different support groups, I'm going to recommend that you join the prostate cancer group which will mean you can connect directly with others who have the same type of cancer as your dad.

To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here, and join in with existing conversations by clicking on reply.

It would be great if you could pop something about your dad's diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
