Hello everyone!

Last week I was finally diagnosed with T2 cancer on my right vocal cord. It was probably there since June last year, when I felt slightly unwell and put it down to mild COVID. My voice had changed and went squeaky.

However, weeks went by and sought GP advice and was referred for and endoscopy. Things didn't start happening until last October when I had a biopsy on the vocal cord. Nearly two months later I was given the all clear and the next stage was to have my growth removed possibly by laser treatment.

Then, I was referred to a separate consultant at the same hospital and was very concerned and said I needed another biopsy. Another two months went by and was hit with the bad news only last week that it is a T2 squamous cancer.

I'm not too sure what that means, but I am going to be put forward for radiotherapy hopefully within the next two weeks.

I am really concerned so much time has elapsed (nearly one year) since I noticed a problem with my voice.

Firstly, has anyone else been diagnosed with T2 squamous.

Secondly, leaving the issue lingering for so long is not good news, is it?

Any thoughts are most welcome.

Thank you all again.

Hope you enjoy the Royal weekend.

Take care.

  • Hello Kimba

Welcome to the Online Community, I hope that you will find it an informative and supportive place to be.

I am sorry to see that you have been diagnosed with T2 vocal chord cancer. Being diagnosed with cancer is a worrying time and it is natural to feel anxious and to have lots of questions. I will pop some links on here that you may want to have a look at.

Laryngeal cancer | Macmillan Cancer Support This is some information on cancer of the larynx (vocal chords) that may be of help. It tells you a bit about the grading and staging and the treatments that may be offered.

Larynx cancer forum - Macmillan Online Community It is fine to post on this forum for support but the online community is divided into sections and there is one specifically for cancer of the larynx. You may want to have a look and share experiences with others who are in a similar situation.

Radiotherapy for laryngeal (larynx) cancer | Macmillan Cancer Support You have said that you are likely to be starting some radiotherapy soon so here is a link with some information that may help.

I am sorry that you have had a delay in getting your diagnosis and understand that this is of concern to you. There is a section on here where you can ask medical questions so I will put a link to it. Normally you would get a reply from a nurse within a couple of days. I have found them helpful.

    Hope this helps a bit.

I hope that you hear back about your radiotherapy soon.
