Hi
This is the first time Ive ever joined a forum so not really sure where to start but I'll give it a go.
Ive been battling cancer for 2 years now. I had radiation to start with (wasnt successful) then surgery (wasnt successful) Ive now been told it doesnt look like it is going to go away but we are trying to manage it as long as we can so currently having chemo and think this will go on until they say I cant have any more.
I normally tend to deal with things on my own but with the chemo I'm finding I have so many questions regarding side effects etc I thought the best people to ask are the people who are also going through the same thing, also it would be lovely if I can help someone with something that I have already experienced.
So thats my journey so far and I was wondering if anyone has suffered from skin acne during chemo? and if they have any suggestions on how to help it, maybe with products they have used that has worked for them.
Thanks for reading ️
Hi Liz39 and welcome to the Online Community but I am sorry to hear about the challenges you are having.
Chemo can affect the skin so do talk this through with your clinical team….. the one very important thing is you must keep your body well hydrated so do aim to drink 2 litres of water every day.
Navigating the cancer journey can be such a stressful and challenging time but getting support from others who are dealing with the ‘exact same' cancer type can help a lot.
The Community is actually divided into dedicated support groups (discussion rooms) but you don’t say what type of cancer you have but if you care to have a look through THIS LIST you will find all our many dedicated cancer support groups listed.
These groups are safe places to talk to others with a similar diagnosis, treatment experience, to ask questions and get support.
When you are ready to connect in with a group click on the [Bold Link] I have created above, then once you find the group for your cancer type click on the black banner that says [click to join] at the bottom, or the [Join] button under "Group tools."
You can then put up your own post when you’re ready by clicking “+new” or “+” in the top right next to the group title. You can copy and paste the text from this post into your new post. You can also scroll through other members posts and click “Reply” to get involved.
Our Support Line teams are available 7 days a week, 8am-8pm on freephone 0808 808 00 00, email or live webchat where you will find one of team there to help you out. We also have our Ask an Expert section but do allow a few working days for a reply.
Talking to people face to face can be very helpful so do check to see if you have any Local Macmillan Support in your area, do also check for a local Maggie's Centre as these folks are amazing.
Do get back to me if you need further help.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
