IGg Kappa Monoclonal in blood - told possible Lymphoma?

Hi, i'm new here, I have been having a lot of health issues which have progressed rapidly since last Autumn, namely new onset severe Raynaud's with cutaneous skin lesions, splinter haemorrhages, cyanosis, rapid weight loss of almost three stone, and most severe fatigue i've ever experienced among other things.

I was referred to Rheumatology who found all of my bloods were okay except the presence of IGg Kappa Monoclonal Band in my blood and urine. I saw the Haematologist yesterday who to my surprise told me it was more likely to Lymphoma than Myeloma?

I'm 45 years old, he says it can still be MGUS but specifically Plasmatic Lymphoma related and now i'm awaiting an urgent Bone Marrow test , I just dont know what to think as before yesterday i'd done all of my research and was certain it would be MGUS at the most?

Incidentally I was also diagnosed with Sjogrens by the Rheumatologist

Can anyone offer any advice?

Thank you :)

  • Hi  and welcome to the community.

I have lived with and been treated for a rare Cutaneous Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma for over 23 years….. the road to diagnosis is often very complicated but the main diagnostic tool will be a Bone Marrow Biopsy although my BMBs never showed a thing, it was a skin then lymph node biopsy that eventually found the truth…… this actually took a year and 6 biopsies to get there.

Once you gave a clear diagnosis you can connect in with the best group for your cancer….. if it is cancer by look through THIS LIST where you will find all our many dedicated cancer support groups listed.

  • Thank you so much, some of my letters have mentioned that my symptoms are cutaneous?
I am worried that the bone marrow will find something but at the same time concerned that it won’t as I’ll be back to square one, I’ve been told I will have a referral to a dermatologist if nothing in the bone marrow so that might be the path I go down. Wishing you well with your diagnosis and here if u want to talk too x

  • I am over 7 years out from my last treatment and living a great life… so be encouraged.

Even me having a rather rare, incurable type of Skin Lymphoma there is actually a way through this. Keep us informed as to how you are getting on and we are always around to listen.
