My daughter was diagnosed with leukemia last April. She had a stem cell transplant on new year She is only 37 years old..She has been through so much what with the chemo and the transplant and various infections. It hurts me so much thatbthis is even happening to her .
Im not sure what the outcome is going to be it is more than 100 days since the transplant and last week she had a biopsy so i guess the results will determine if its being a success.
Hi Amanda G and welcome to the Online Community but so sorry to hear about the journey your daughter has been on.
I know the Stem Cell Transplant (SCT) rollercoaster very well as I myself have had 2 Allo (donor) SCTs my first in June 2014 then in Oct 2015 and I remain in remission to this day.
It’s only once she reaches about day +100 that her team starts to check her cell graft so she most likely is having a Bone Marrow Biopsy as this will give a clear indication as to the progress but her new immune system may need even longer to recover and rebuild.
I have a different type of blood cancer but when it comes to SCT the journey is basically the same.
The Community is actually divided into dedicated Support Groups (Discussion Rooms) so can I recommend you consider joining our supportive dedicated Stem cell transplant support group. This is a safe place to talk to others who have navigated the actual SCT process, to ask questions and get support from family members who supported family
To join the group click on the “Bold Link” I have created above then once the group page opens click on “Click to Join” when the black banner appears or “Join” under “Group Tools” (this all depends on the device you are using)
You can then put up your own post when you’re ready by clicking “+new” or “+” in the top right next to the group title. You can copy and paste the text from this post into your new post. You can also scroll through other members posts and click “Reply” to get involved.
I will keep an eye open for you in the group and we can talk more ((hugs))
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
