Hello all my mum has just been diagnosed with
Primary cutaneous diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, leg type
she is fit and healthy so it has come as a huge shock - we are supporting mum who is in great spirits.
I am really scared it’s so much to take in and everything is happening very quickly
would appreciate any advice on how to support mum best but also coping strategies for us?
Hi HB53 and warm welcome to the Macmillan Online Community although sorry that you had to find us and especially sorry to hear about your mum’s Lymphoma diagnosis.
I am Mike and I help out around our Lymphoma groups. I was diagnosed way back in 1999 at 43 with a rare, incurable but treatable type of Cutaneous T-Cell (skin) Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma eventually reaching Stage 4a in late 2013..,.. but and I am still here, turned 67 last November and living a great life…. Be encouraged, Lymphoma is very treatable.
The Community is actually divided into dedicated Support Groups (Discussion Rooms) and I do see that you have already found and joined our dedicated Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma support group. This group is a safe place to talk to others with a similar diagnosis, treatment experience, to ask questions and get support.
To connect with the group click on the “Bold Link” I have created above then once the group page opens you can then put up your own post when you’re ready by clicking “+new” or “+” in the top right next to the group title. You can copy and paste the text from this post into your new post.
I will keep an eye open for you but if you are not sure what type you have pleased do get back to me on this post and I will help you out further.
Wow Mike this is amazing thank you so much I could cry with relief we are just hearing the bad news! I am so pleased I have found this group
The word cancer can bring some very dark thoughts but every cancer type brings its own level of treatment and the ability to treat…… Lymphoma is very treatable.
Do put you a post in the Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma and we can talk more and I can give you up to date information….. do not do random Google searches - it’s not the best approach.
I am going over to the West Coast of Scotland this morning (I live in Inverness) but will keep an eye open for your post ((hugs))
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
