I feel awful as I have been getting stressed with my children so thought I could unload on here.
My husband was originally diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer about 5 years ago. The thyroid was removed and we were given positive information that radioactive iodine treatment would help to fully treat.
Unfortunately after some delay and 2nd radioactive iodine treatment it had spread to lymph nodes.
A pet scan also showed something to pelvic area. He had a lymph node clearance and radiotherapy which apparently went well.
He should have had colonoscopy before covid hit but that was delayed until last year. He had hemicolectomy in October due to stage 1 bowel cancer from polyps, apparently that was curative. But this surgery has left so many ill effects. Luckily the bowel cancer was completely seperate to thyroid.
He had ENT OPD 2 weeks ago where they found lump on the larynx. He is now booked for a rigid scope on 3rd May. My husband doesn't open up but I think he is petrified just as I am that this will be laryngeal cancer. It feels better just to write this down, I am also stressing about gcses for youngest son and older sons College course. Thank you for letting me unload on here.
Hi Edna185 and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I'm sorry to read that you're currently waiting for your husband to have a lump on his larynx investigated and I know what a stressful time this is for everyone.
As the online community is divided up into different support groups I'm going to recommend that you join the carers only group, which is a safe and supportive place to discuss your emotions and worries with others who have a loved one in a similar situation.
To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here, and join in with existing conversations by clicking on reply.
Another group that you might want to join is the head and neck cancer group as that would give you the opportunity to ask questions and share experiences with others who have been through or are currently going through the same investigations as your husband.
I'll be keeping everything crossed that there is a non-cancerous reason for your husband's lump
x
