Hi I have recently been diagnosed with lung cancer that has spread from my bowel.I had part of my bowel removed just over twelve months ago and unfortunately it has spread during that short period .The consultants are going to carry out another scan the end of this month before they decide what treatment will be in my best interests. The waiting is so difficult and I am struggling as to why if they know it’s there they can’t just  start treatment immediately why wait for it to grow they know there are six growths four in one left lung and two in right .Any advice would be appreciated.

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I'm sorry to read that you have recently discovered that your bowel cancer has spread to your lung and it's natural to find the waiting difficult.

I can see that you've already found and joined the bowel cancer group which is a great place to ask questions, share experiences and get support.

Another group which I think you might benefit from joining is the secondary lung cancer group. If you'd like to also join this group, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here, and join in with existing conversations by clicking on reply.

It would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
