I’m a 62year old female & last week my GP sent me to A&E as I had palpitations & shortage of breath. After lots of questions & examinations /blood tests/ X-ray etc I was requested to return the following day for a CT scan as a mass had been detected on my right lung. The CT showed it in more detail. The A&E doctor explained that I would need a biopsy (bronchoscopy) & I was being referred to the lung cancer team who would be in touch with me. All this happened just before the Bank Holiday & now we have 4 days of strike action I’m terrified!
im terrified of the diagnosis, terrified by the thought of a bronchoscopy and terrified that I won’t be seen urgently. Is it possible to have a general anaesthetic for this procedure as I’ve been told it would be a sedative and local anaesthetic for my throat
any advice would be very much appreciated
Hi ED007 and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I'm sorry to read about your worries and it's perfectly normal to be scared.
I can see that you've already found and joined the lung cancer group and I'd recommend that you start a new post there, as it's a great place to ask your questions, share experiences and get support.
