Hi

I have been diagnosed with a typical carcinoid or NET in my right lung, it was picked up on a heart scan but further investigations showed it was there in 2017.
due to have my right middle lobe removed soon, very apprehensive about the surgery as I have fibromyalgia and I was very bad after my bronchoscopy.

also concerned re infection, as my dad died last year from MRSA sepsis picked up in hospital.

Would be grateful for any advice on how to get through this. I am lucky I have a supportive family and friends.

thank you

D

  • Hi  and I am sorry to read about the journey you are on.

I have a totally different cancer but have had 2 one week stays with Neutropenic Sepsis so I do understand your concerns.

As you know the Community is actually divided into dedicated Support Groups (Discussion Rooms) and I do see you have been posting in our Lung Cancer and Neuroendocrine tumours support groups. This is a safe place to talk to others with a similar diagnosis, treatment experience, to ask questions and get support.

Our Support Line teams are available 7 days a week, 8am-8pm on freephone 0808 808 00 00email or live webchat where you will find one of team there to help you out. We also have our Ask an Expert section but do allow a few working days for a reply.

Talking to people face to face can be very helpful so do check to see if you have any Local Macmillan Support in your area, do also check for a local Maggie's Centre as these folks are amazing.

Do get back to me if you need further help.
