Hi all,
A week ago I was diagnosed with skin cancer which is likely out of control and affecting major organs.
I'm awaiting the results of a chest X-Ray but know it's already in my left lung and my kidneys are starting to hurt also. Have a dermatology appointment booked for two abnormal skin regions, but I'm pretty sure I don't have much time.
I feel so guilty I'm letting down my daughters by not even staying alive for them. My mum lost her husband a few years ago and now me???
It hurts so much to hurt the people I love.
Any cancer diagnosis is a shock and I am sorry you have gone through that. From what you say it sounds like your mum also lost a husband to cancer and this then could trigger emotions linked to that.
There is a lot of information on our diagnosis page that might be helpful to you right now.
As my wife has cancer I very much relate to the issue of feelings of hurting loved ones, perhaps the most important thing of all though I find is to keep talking honestly about what is happening. It might help to look at our pages on Talking about cancer for tips on how best to do that.
<<hugs>>
Steve
Thank you Steve I appreciate your guidance. Sending love and wishing you and your wife the best.
Hi C_O_D_E_Silver and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I'm sorry to read that you have been diagnosed with skin cancer which has spread to your lung and kidneys.
As the online community is divided up into different support groups can I recommend that you join us over in either the melanoma group or skin cancer group (for BCC and SCC cancers), as they are great places to connect with others to ask questions, share experiences and get support.
To join the appropriate group, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here, and join in with existing conversations by clicking on reply.
It would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

Hi latchbrook,
Thanks for your advice and understanding.
I’ve written something on my profile and would be great to connect with people in similar circumstances.
Many thanks
Thanks for completing your profile and I can see that I've misunderstood your original post as you haven't yet found out if the cancer has spread to your lungs and kidneys yet.
If you could let me know what type of cancer you've been diagnosed with, I could give you a direct link to that group so that you can connect with people with a similar diagnosis.
x
I wasn’t told the type of cancer, only “you have cancer, sorry”. I know “wait for a full diagnosis” but I know exactly what that will be. I have all the classic signs of lung cancer and if melanoma (which is likely), it follows it’s probably progressed to other organs as well.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
