I just wanted to say hello to you all and share my journey so far:
I had a prostatectomy back in July 22, which seemed uneventful. However, my blood test after 2 months showed a small, but significant, PSA reading of 0.5. My hospital, the UCLH, asked me to have another blood test after a further month. This had now risen to 1.48. These tests clearly showed that the cancer had spread out of the prostate gland. A subsequent MRI indicated that it had gone into the left lymph node.I was then put onto hormone therapy to be followed by radiotherapy later this year if my PSA drops below 1.0.
I have now been on hormone treatment for about 3 months, and were pleased to be informed this week that a further blood test has shown that my PSA is now 0.05! An excellent result.
I'm seeing the oncologist next week to discuss things, but I wondered if anyone has been in a similar situation. Could hormone treatment be safely stopped now? Indeed, would I still need radiotherapy for such a low PSA? Just wanted people's views from their own experiences.
Thank you for reading this.
