My husband was diagnosed with Prostate cancer just over a year ago. He's been through a lot as in infection after infection. He had his prostate scraped. He's not getting any better. He was supposed to see his Consultant 3 month post op. I asked him to call Aberdeen to get seen as he's not feeling good at all. He's not eating much lost his appetite  and us fatigued all of the time. He's starting to feel really down. He was a very active man before this so is taking it hard. He has just gone to lie down as he's so tired. And he's upset.

I feel he has been through a lot with no back up support.

I have joined this forum for any suggestions. I'm starting to feel anxious about him now.  He does not talk to anyone Barr me and one of my twins who is a nurse but mostly just to me. He is a private man.

Any help appreciated.

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I'm sorry to read how your husband's cancer diagnosis is affecting you both but it's good that you've reached out for support.

The online community is divided up into different support groups so I'm going to recommend that you join the prostate cancer group, which is a great place to ask questions and share experiences with others around treatment, etc.

Another group, which I think you'd benefit from joining, is the carers only group which would give you the chance to share your worries and emotions with others who have a loved one living with cancer.

To join just click on the links I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here, and join in with existing conversations by clicking on reply.

It would be great if you could pop something about your husband's diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
