Hi.

my name is Andrew, new to the group and still finding my way about.

I was diagnosed with Lung Cancer on Wednesday 8th.

The Doctors seem to have a plan that will be starting soon. PAT Scan and biopsy.

My head is all over the place. Emotional and a deep feeling of sadness at this time. still processing this.
Projecting the worst case scenarios, I am aware of this and I am trying to bring it back to the day.
Just a bit fearful of the future and what lies ahead.
I hope that it is isolated and can be removed. That seems to be the plan but I know more tests are needed.
I will know more in time.
The Doctor seems optimistic and upfront. Though it is still a huge shock.

  • Hi Andrew   and welcome to the Online Community but I am sorry to hear about your diagnoses.

The cancer journey can be such a stressful and challenging time but reaching out to the community will give you the opportunity to ask questions and getting support from others who are on the ‘exact’ same cancer journey.

The Community is divided into dedicated Support Groups (Discussion Rooms) so can I recommend consider joining our supportive Lung Cancer support group. This is a safe place to talk to others with a similar diagnosis, treatment experience, to ask questions and get support.

If you'd like to connect in with a group click on the Bold Group Link I have created above and join the group. You can then introduce yourself by putting up your own post (copy and paste the text from this post) or replying to existing posts.

Our Support Line teams are available 7 days a week, 8am-8pm on freephone 0808 808 00 00email or live webchat we also have our Ask an Expert section but do allow a few working days for a reply.

Talking to people face to face can be very helpful so do check to see if you have any Local Macmillan Support in your area, do also check for a local Maggie's Centre as these folks are amazing.

Do get back to me if you need further help.
