Hi - I was diagnosed with lung cancer in January at the age of 51. I’ve already had a lobectomy (3 weeks post surgery) and thought I was doing exceptionally well. I can walk 2 miles in a reasonable time (quicker than when I use to take my dog). Not been out due to the snow over the last couple of days.

I’m getting so frustrated at the moment, I feel fit to drive but can’t get hold of anyone to say that I can start driving. I’ve issues going on with work (I’m a director in a business and my business partner is being underhand whilst I’m not there). I’m single and feel it is all getting on top of me and I have no control.

I’ve yet to have an appointment with oncology so who knows what else I will need to endure.

Find that I am blaming myself as I am an ex smoker - I feel so lonely, useless, no control and miserable.

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I'm sorry to read that you have recently been diagnosed with lung cancer but that's great that you feel you're recovering well from your recent lobectomy.

As the online community is divided up into different support groups, I'm going to recommend that you join and post in the lung cancer group, which is a great place to ask questions, share experiences and get support from others.

To join just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here, and join in with existing conversations by clicking on reply.

It would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
