Hello everyone
Firstly I want to say a big thankyou for all.the support MacMillan gave my mum through her terminal.skin cancer..she passed 10 years ago now from malignant melonoma..since her diagnosis I have been obsessed with dying more so the nearer to.her age I become..a few months ago I noticed a mark appear on my left leg..not.like anything I had seen before..I pushed for my Dr to see me and eventually after being given a fungus cream..I had my first.biopsy a week.ago..I'm absolutely paranoid it's skin cancer and the 4 to 12 week wait for the results is really worrying me..has anyone else felt this way?
Hi Fran65 and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is an informative and supportive place to be.
I'm very sorry to read that your mum passed away from melanoma and I can understand why you'd be worried about this mark that's appeared on your leg.
The online community is divided up into different support groups so I'm going to recommend that you join us over in the skin cancer group as that will give you the opportunity to connect with others who are in a similar position of waiting for biopsy results to come back.
To do this just click on the link I've created which will take you to the group. After you've joined you can then start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

Hi
I've got a mole which I've had for 50 + years I saw a doctor back in January just to get it checked out and was told I'm had skin cancer - this was even before I an biopsy, the consultant was just as bad saying it could be serious. To say I was shell shocked was an understatement. I was meant to have a biopsy last Tuesday, which was cancelled on Monday morning, I am now meant to be having it next Tuesday. Friends told me it's only another week, they don't seem to understand, it's another week of worrying, it's an additional week before I get my results. So yes I fully understand what you are going through. Its the uncertainty that is hard to deal with, its the question at 3 am have I or haven't I got skin cancer, it's trying to plan things for the next few months not knowing when or even if I may have to have another operation. Mentally it is exhausting.and unless you are going through it or have been through it, I don't think you can understand just how hard it is.
Hi Redlis
So.sorry your going through this too..initially the Dr thought mine was a fungus infection and sent me away with some cream a week later I was still worried so I pushed to get it checked by dermatology..they told me it looked like Bowens or pre melonoma but a specialist would need to view the photos she took..after an agonising 3 weeks I received a letter to say the consultant also suspected skin cancer and I would need a biopsy again I waited.2 weeks later I had my biopsy now rhe wait for 3 to 12 weeks..I totally empathise with you..I really dont understand with skin cancer on the increase and the need to get it checked why it takes so long it keeps me awake at.night worrying..please let me know how your treatment goes..the biopsy is very straightforward and painless. But the wait is agonising.
