Hi all,

my wife was diagnosed with stage iv MBC in August. She has been on targeted therapy since then and we just got good CT scan results. Yay!  But, but, but, when asked about prognosis, onco said 5-7 years. Gut punch. We’ve been together since 1980. She is my whole life. I am terrified. She is on Kisqali (rocicib?) and letrezole. It’s just so unexpected.

anyone else?  I really need to find my tribe. BTW, in the US but find MacMillan super helpful. And I could use it.

thanks. And hugs to all. Ann

Hi Ann  and welcome to the Online Community and a extra welcome from across the pond…… but so sorry to hear about your wife’s diagnosis and the journey you are both on.

A cancer diagnosis like this can be such a challenging and stressful time but I do hope you will find the Community a safe place to get support from family members who are navigating the ‘exact’ same journey.

I see that you have found that the Community is divided into support groups (discussion rooms) and you have already joined and posted in our Family and friends support group. You have also joined our Carers only group and you may want to have a look at our Supporting someone with incurable cancer support group also

We also have our dedicated Breast cancer group where you can connect with people on the exact same treatment pathway.

These groups are where you will connect with others navigating the exact same support challenges. Each group will have it’s own focus so it may take a little time to decide which one is best for you.

Supporting someone you love on their cancer journey can be very hard so you may find it helpful to look at this information on your feelings when someone has cancer and especially this section on looking after yourselfIf you're starting to struggle then it would be a good idea to have a chat with your MD,

Macmillan is indeed a very large UK based Cancer Support Charity that is much wider than this community.

You can call the Macmillan Support Line from outside of the UK on +44 207 091 2230 but we are unable to advise on healthcare systems overseas. We are open from 8am-8pm (timings may differ across services) 7 days a week (UK time) where you can get emotional support or just connect with a listening ear.

Please do get back to me if you need further help.

  • Thank you Mike. I will check out the other groups as well. Finding myself so irritable lately and can’t show this to her as it really upsets her. Freaking me out. Don’t worry about the treatment stuff. It’s the company I’m after.

    again, many thanks. Ann
