Hi

Im just coming up to the 2 year anniversary of having total thyroidectomy and neck dissection for papillary thyroid cancer. I find myself here as I feel in a state of loss and numbness of what happened and how I should be feeling? Unsure of what I’m actually wanting to gain from this forum other than maybe someone feeling in the same boat? Someone to share thoughts and maybe reassure me it’s still ok to feel emotional about the cancer…

  • Hi  I see you have been a member of the community for a few years so I am sure you will be able to connect with others who understand the journey you are on, anniversaries do this at times.

You may want to post in our Thyroid cancer group or our Life after cancer group as this will open your question to others.

Talking to people face to face can be very helpful so do check to see if you have any Local Macmillan Support in your area, do also check for a local Maggie's Centre as these folks are amazing.

Do get back to me if you need further help

  • Hi Mike

Thankyou for your helpful reply. I’m not very good with forums if honest (and technology at the best of times)

Initially I did look for a relevant group but I guess I missed it. I will try to copy and paste to another group.

  • Hi again  totally understand.

If you'd like to connect in with a group click on the (Bold) Group Text Links I created above then once the group pages opens click on the black banner that says [click to join] at the bottom, or the [Join] button under "Group tools."...... if you need to join the group.

You can then introduce yourself by putting up a ‘new post’ by clicking in the box near the top right with + New or + (Depending on the device you are using) and you are ready to go. You could copy and paste the text from this post into your new post.
