Hi all,
I am a newbie to this group.
My mother sadly passed away on Friday, I am so heartbroken. She was not only my mother, she was my best friend too. I used to speak to my mother everyday and I don’t know how I am going to carry on life without her.
I’ve joined this group to speak to others which are going through the same so we can support each other.
So sorry to hear about your mam . These first few weeks you will feel numb but it will get easier to cope as you start to come to terms with your loss over the coming weeks. Sharing your sadness with friend and family helps - talking about your loss helped me a lot. . My mum died of breast cancer 10 years ago and I still think of her everyday .
Hi Precious9 and welcome to the Online Community but so sorry to hear about your mam, I lost my mum just over 2 years back so I understand the journey you are stating but you have done the right thing in reaching out and I do hope you will find the Community a safe place to get support from members who are navigating the ‘exact’ same journey.
The Community is actually divided into support groups (discussion rooms) and I can see that you have already joined our supportive Bereaved family and friends support group where you will connect with others dealing with the same challenges, where you will get support from people who understand.
If you'd like to connect in with a group click on the (Bold) Group Text I have created above then once the group page opens you can then introduce yourself by putting up a ‘new post’ by clicking in the box near the top right with + New or + (Depending on the device you are using) and you are ready to go. You could copy and paste the text from this post into your new post.
The Macmillan Support Line is open from 8am-8pm (timings may differ across services) 7 days a week on 0808 808 00 00 where you can talk with someone about practical information, get emotional support, benefits/financial guidance or just connect with a listening ear. We also have our Ask an Expert section but do allow a few working days for a reply.
Talking to people face to face can be very helpful so do check to see if you have any Local Macmillan Support in your area, do also check for a local Maggie's Centre as these folks are amazing and aim to give support to all the family.
Please do get back to me if you need further help ((hugs))
Thank you for your reply Mike. I’m so sorry to hear about your mother.
I will look into the useful services you have highlighted above.
Thanks again
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
