Hey everyone

been a hell of a couple of years for us. Lost my mum from a very rare blood cancer in 2019. Then in March 2021 after 3 months of headaches my sister was diagnosed with a brain tumour which was successfully removed. However doctors discovered that this brain tumour had actually spread from a cancer in her chest that no one knew about. Just before Christmas this spread to her spine :( she had radiotherapy and is starting immunotherapy next week. On Thursday I had a hospital appointment after finding a lump in my breast. A mammogram and unltrasound showed it was nothing to worry about. However it’s showed a single white spot in the same breast and some calcification in some lymph nodes in my other armpit. The hospital have requested my old mammogram to see if this is showing on the old ones? However nothing has ever been mentioned before to me so it’s highly unlikely. Now I’m just driving myself crazy while I wait for a call from the lady when she has them from another hospital to see if I need a biopsy and mri scan.  It sure how to stop thinking about it all the time. Any coping strategies would be much appreciated.

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

It's natural to worry when you're having to wait for the results of tests, etc. I have been twice recalled after routine mammograms. The first time it turned out to be a harmless cyst but the second time I wasn't so lucky. However, I've just finished treatment and I'm looking forward to a more 'normal' year.

As the online community is divided up into different support groups so I'm going to suggest that you join and post in the breast cancer group which is a great place to ask questions, share experiences and get support.

To join just click on the link I've created which will take you there. One you've joined, you can then start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
