Recovery from stage 2 renal cell carcinoma

Hi everyone

Had my operation on the 14th March 2022,  I had a partial nephrectomy, I still have pain, and my head is all over the place.  Feel like I am not coping with it all. I am on yearly follow up, just wondered if anyone else has had this, and is struggling like myself. Is it normal to still feel this way?

Many thanks.

  • Hi BuddyD - I have RCC too, although I haven't had a nephrectomy.  Come and join us in the  Kidney cancer forum  to meet others who can share their experience post operation.

  • Morning Mumm.  Thank you for your reply it means alot. I have joined the forum, still not sure how to use it properly though. But glad I am involved with people who understand what I'm going through.

  • Hi  good that you have been able to join the Kidney cancer support group.

If you'd like to connect in with the group click on the (Bold) Group Link I have created above then once the group page opens you can then introduce yourself by putting up a ‘new post’ by clicking in the box near the top right with + New or + (Depending on the device you are using) and you are ready to go.

You could copy and paste the text from this post into your new post.

You can also look through all the group treads and as always you can hit reply to any discussion and connect in.

The Macmillan Support Line is open from 8am-8pm (timings may differ across services) 7 days a week on 0808 808 00 00 where you can talk with someone about specific cancer and practical information, get emotional support, benefits/financial guidance or just connect with a listening ear.

We also have our Ask an Expert section but do allow a few working days for a reply.

We also have our Telephone Buddy Service where you can be matched with someone who understands what you're going through, and they'll give you a weekly call.

Talking to people face to face can be very helpful so do check to see if you have any Local Macmillan Support in your area, do also check for a local Maggie's Centre as these folks are amazing and aim to give support to all the family.

Do get back to me if you need further help.

You may want to consider joining our supportive Kidney cancer support group as this is a safe place to talk to wider group of people with a similar diagnosis, treatment experience, to ask questions and get support.

Just follow the instruction in my post above.

Do get back to me if you need further help.

  • So true Bigbird25 the mental anguish is so hard. Good luck to you and keep strong

  • Where is the BOLD heading, I'm still not sure if I'm actually in the group.

  • Yes,   you are and you've posted replies to chats too Smiley  The front end interface of this forum is confusing on a phone.  I use a laptop and the separate groups are much clearer with a browser interface.  You wouldn't be the first person to be confused by it.

  • Hi  you have indeed joined the Kidney cancer support group.

The community is a massive place and slightly harder to navigate on a phone or tablet.

Bit if you click on ‘your’ name  this will take you to ‘your’ area of the site and you can find the groups you have joined and see the post activity you have put up.
