My partner had kidney cancer 5years ago and was treated straight away by removing half the kidney.

His CT scan confirms the cancer and has spread to his pancrease, lungs and liver. He can feel the tumar on one side(possible liver) and determining really fast. He had his biopsy and still waiting for results let alone have any treatment.

The investigation is taking so long (almost 3months) and I can see him literally dying right before my eyes while desperately waiting for some answers and treatment.

CT scan results:

New appearance pf scattered solid pulmonary nodules, hyperhancing hepatic mases and pancreatic tail mass. Suggestive of palmonary hepatic and pancreatic metastatic. Metastasis RCC should be considered.

What stage does that look like? What do I do? His getting weaker by the day now he can't even talk. I have contacted the department at Queens hospital and they say nothing can be done since the results from biopsy has not arrived!

Someone please help and advice. Am I going to loose him soon? Why are they raking so long? Is it coz it's too late? Do we still have chance of cure?

Ps he is 59 turning 60 in few months.

  • Apologies about the spelling/auto wording error.

    *deteriorating - not determining.

Secondly the 1st time his kidney cancer was treated and dealt with.

This time it re appeared again but still under investigation.

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I'm sorry to read that your partner's cancer has returned and it's been found to have spread to other areas of his body.

You might also like to join the kidney cancer group as this would give you the opportunity of asking your treatment questions directly to others who have this type of cancer.

It would be great if you could pop something about your partner's diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'.
