After treatment-pain

Hello all. I’m new to the community.  I was wondering if anyone else had experienced pain in the hands and wrists after finishing treatment.  I was put on arimadex  and in the last 6 months have developed pain in my hands and wrists.  It started gradually but now I have so much pain and sensitivity that I am unable to do much of anything. I have been off medication for about 1.5 months now with no relief.  Ive tried cortisone tablets and tramadol but nothing is working.  Has anyone else experienced anything similar and found some relief. Thank you

  • Hi  and welcome to our community.

Sorry to hear about what you are going through, this is really quite common and often needs quite a bit of work before we find a balance of what works without causing too many unpleasant effects itself. If we look at the main site on pain and especially the section on chronic pain it can help us work with the medics to find our new place in life.

While my experience with cancer is as a carer - my wife having Leiomyosarcoma - incurable but stable thankully, I have plenty of experience in the pain field with chronic Ankylosing Spondylitis and while I do have drugs to help the most important part of my treatment is actually physiotherapy and especially exercise in water.

  • Thank you Steve.  I do have physio each week, and will look at going to the local swimming pool.  I hope you and your wife continue to do well.  All the best.  Kathy
