How to live with this?

Hi Everyone,

On a bit of a roller coaster right now. Surgery to remove cancerous thyroid and some lymph nodes in June, radioactive iodine in August. But levels still high. Lesions remain active in lungs. PET scan week after next to pin point where the cancer is. Trying to remain positive and be brave, but often want to cry, but don't. Husband cries at thought of losing me, so try and not be down in front of him. How do you live with this? Scared.

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

Lots of people describe having cancer as like being on a rollercoaster and it's certainly a very stressful and emotional time.

I can see that you've already found and joined the thyroid cancer group, which I'm sure you'll find is a great place to ask questions, share experiences and get support.

When you feel ready to post there just start a new post in the same way as you did here. You can also join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

It would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

Wishing your husband all the best with his upcoming surgery
