Hi all,

I am looking after my father, and some days it is very tiring as I can't do anything right.

Is this normal for this to happen? Do I  need to keep going with the flow and give him a break

Thank you in advance Relaxed️

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I'm not in your position, as I'm the one with cancer, but I'm sure if you join the carers only group, you'll find plenty of people who will be happy to share their experiences of looking after someone with cancer with you.

To join just click on the link I've created which will take you directly there. You can then join and start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

It would be great if you could pop something about your father's diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

  • Your best bet is to phone Macmillan's Welfare Rights team on 0808 808 0000. It's free to call and they're available every day. You'll need details of your parents income, etc.
