New and uncertain

Hi 71 widow living on my own.

in late October I experienced a little breakthrough bleeding and contacted my GP.

I was referred to local hospital for consult then vaginal ultrasound and then last Friday had hysteroscopy. Polyp was found and removed.

As I had a spinal anaesthesia stayed in overnight though my discharge letter said ‘no follow up’ and I thought everything was fine. Then today received call from my consultant’s nurse saying they were scheduling me for a MRI, so clearly there is concern.

I am a wreck. Obviously I am afraid that the biopsy they took has triggered this but of course they can’t discuss on the phone.

Since they are closed now until next Wednesday they could have waited until Wednesday to call rather than advising me before the weekend holiday.

I know that this is very early and that there are people with confirmed diagnosis here facing much worse than me but I am afraid

I agree, they could have waited instead of telling you something that makes you wonder what’s going on. I had a very similar experience with a breast screening. Everything turned out fine, but I was a bit worried over a long weekend. Try to not let your imagination run wild, immerse yourself in Christmas, hopefully it will distract you a bit and you can enjoy the holiday. An MRI is also used to clarify something that may have appeared “off”.
