Hi everyone, it's a club I thought I never be part of, but here we all are, all part of it just in different ways.
I found out on the 9 of November that I had grade 2 breast cancer, I have to say that I am one of the lucky ones, as it isn't aggressive and they should be able to cure it, but the shock and the impact is has on my life is still a great one. I was pregnant but found out sadly on m6 12 weeks scan that my little angel stopped growing at 8 weeks into the pregnancy. So on 14.12 I had to have it removed. Yesterday a had my appointment with the consultant and find out that I will be having my operation on 4.1.23 and then go from there.
Don't really know what to expect from this group or anything going forward, but know that I am not ready to give up and happy to chat to anybody who would like to.
I wish you all the best
Hi and a warm welcome to the Online Community but so sorry to hear about your diagnoses.
A cancer journey is such a stressful and challenging time but you have done the right thing in reaching out to a place where you can ask questions and getting support from others who are on the ‘exact’ same cancer journey.
The Community is divided into support groups (discussion rooms) but I do see you have joined our supportive Breast cancer support group. This is a safe place to talk to others with a similar diagnosis, treatment experience, to ask questions and get support.
If you'd like to connect in with a group click on the Green (Bold) Group Link I have created above and once the group page opens you can then introduce yourself by putting up a ‘new post’ by clicking in the box near the top right with + New or + (Depending on the device you are using) and you are ready to go. You could copy and paste the text from this post into your new post.
The Macmillan Support Line is open from 8am-8pm (timings may differ across services) 7 days a week on 0808 808 00 00 where you can talk with someone about specific cancer and practical information, get emotional support, benefits/financial guidance or just connect with a listening ear.
We also have our Ask an Expert section but do allow a few working days for a reply.
We also have our Telephone Buddy Service where you can be matched with someone who understands what you're going through, and they'll give you a weekly call.
Talking to people face to face can be very helpful so do check to see if you have any Local Macmillan Support in your area, do also check for a local Maggie's Centre as these folks are amazing and aim to give support to all the family.
Do get back to me if you need further help.
I was diagnosed a couple of days ago with Prostate Cancer. We here so much about the but its still a shock when you are told that you have it. Have to have a bone scan next week then a body scan its the start of a long journey but I am sure I am not the only one starting the New Year with uncertainty
Hi Rustyone and welcome to the community.
You will see lots of helpful information further up the thread but can I recommend that you join and put up a post in our Prostate cancer as you can connect with others who are navigating this journey.
Do get back to me if you need more help.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
