Hi everyone,
I am new to the group and am looking for anyone who may also be struggling with a close family member or freinds diagnosis. My dad was diagnosed with asophigous cancer early this year. He was operated on and the cancer was succsesfully removed and then shortly after he was very unwell and through a number off wrong disagnoses we finally got a brian scan and was told it had now spread to his brain. He was told he was too weak to have another operation and gave him 6 months. They then decided they coyld operate and again this was a sucsess and he had 1 small.aession of radiotherapy in late september and was then told again he was clear from cancer (even though no post brain scan was done) we are now 2 months on and hes showing signs of it having returned. He is confused, very vacent, had headaches and is in bed all day not eating or drinking again. We have requested an urgent brain scan. Im just worried sick constantly, im finding my anxiety really hard to manage and i feel like i need to be strong for my mother and sisters and of course him. Im hoping to connect with people who are in simalar situations and also finding it hard in the hope we can maybe support eachother <3. Im also slightly dyslexic so apologies for my spelling. Sending love to all xx️
Hi Sfeeta and a welcome to the Online Community but so sorry to hear about your dad’s diagnosis.
A cancer diagnosis like this in the family can be such a challenging and stressful time but I do hope you will find the Community a safe place to get support from family members who are navigating the same journey.
The Community is divided into support groups (discussion rooms) so can I recommend you join and post in our general Carers only and Supporting someone with incurable cancer support groups where you will connect with others dealing with the same challenges while supporting family
If you'd like to connect in with a group click on the Green (Bold) links I have created above. Once the group page opens click on the black banner that says [click to join] at the bottom, or the [Join] button under "Group tools."
You can then introduce yourself by putting up a ‘new post’ by clicking in the box near the top right with + New or + (Depending on the device you are using) and you are ready to go. You could copy and paste the text from this post into your new post.
