Hello, I just wanted to post to see if there was anyone in a similar situation or if anyone could point me in the direction of some help and support. My mum has non Hodgkin lymphoma, she’s having her last round of chemo tomorrow. She lives with me my husband and our 10 year old daughter. She’s altered physically (lost her hair, lost 3 stone) and is mainly now bed ridden with fatigue and side effects.
it’s taken a huge toll on the household and whilst myself and my husband have been through cancer in the family before our daughter hasn’t. She’s finding it hard and will often tell us she’s feeling sad and doesn’t know why, she’s sad about grandma and worried about what is going to happen. Can anyone relate?
Thanks x
Hi and warm welcome to the Macmillan Online Community although sorry that you had to find us and especially sorry to hear about your mum’s Lymphoma diagnosis and the challenges the family are dealing with.
I am Mike and I help out around our Lymphoma groups. I was diagnosed back in 1999 with a rare, incurable Low Grade Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma so I understand this journey rather well.
Over the past 10 years my 4 granddaughters were born and grew up with me living with and going through treatment so zi can understand the challenges.
To help widen your conversation to others in the sane place could I suggest you join and post in our dedicated General Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma. This is a safe place to talk to others with a similar diagnosis, treatment experience, to ask questions and get support from patients and family.
If you'd like to connect in with a group click on the Green (Bold) Group Link I have created above. Once the group page opens click on the black banner that says [click to join] at the bottom, or the [Join] button under "Group tools."
You can then introduce yourself by putting up a ‘new post’ by clicking in the box near the top right with + New or + (Depending on the device you are using) and you are ready to go. You could copy and paste the text from this post into your new post.
I will keep an eye open for you in the group and we can continue our conversation ((hugs))
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
