Hi there,

my partner has just been told his skin cancer has spread. They’ve found some in lymph nodes (groin) but he knows nothing more. We are both shocked. Any advice on what we can expect in terms of next steps and how to stay positive while we await further news would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I'm sorry to read that your partner's skin cancer has spread and I know what a worrying time this will be for you both.

You haven't said what type of skin cancer he has so I'll give you links to both the melanoma group, if it's melanoma, and to the skin cancer group if it's not. Whichever one of these groups is the right one for you to join, you'll find they're great places to ask questions and share experiences.

To join just click on the link I've created which will take you directly there. You can then join and start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

It would be great if you could pop something about your partner's diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

  • Hi there! Thank you so much for that. It is melanoma. I will do as you suggest. X
